As shared in our previous announcement, the Dual Platform Enhancement will go live for all staff on Wednesday 20th August 2025.
This will unify your Google and Microsoft logins under a Single Sign-On (SSO) system — meaning you will login to Google services using your Microsoft 365 username and password via a redirect to our Dilworth Branded Microsoft login page. See Video Demo of a typical SSO login to Google using your Microsoft account
Please note that these changes only apply to staff members at this stage, students will remain as is and any changes to their accounts will follow at a later date. To ensure a smooth changeover, please see below for what to expect and follow the steps for before and after the switch over.
Before Wednesday 20th August
Save any important Gmail emails
Your Gmail will no longer send or receive after the changeover, so if you have important conversations or attachments stored only in Gmail, please back them up now.
You can do this by:
Downloading emails and saving them to your local computer or to Google Drive (they will remain accessible after the change) See How, or
Forwarding them to your Microsoft Outlook email so they’re stored in your new primary mailbox.
Frequent Google Contacts auto clear
We will be clearing your frequent contacts within Google Contacts to prevent staff from accidentally using @gapps.dilworth.school.nz addresses. This will ensure that the auto detection on Google when a user is searched up will only display the new Google address instead of displaying the old addresses.
If you wish to keep any contacts from your frequent contact list, please export them before the changeover date. See How
Check your applications that use Google as a login (SSO)
While most apps and services you’ve signed into using your @gapps.dilworth.school.nz Google account will switch automatically to the new @dilworth.school.nz login, some may require you to manually update your email address.
These are some of the apps you might be using:
Canva.com requires manual changes — follow this guide to update your email (you can do this before or after the changeover, just read the guide very carefully) : See How
Slack.com requires manual changes — follow this guide to update your email (you can do this before or after the changeover, just read the guide very carefully) : See How
todoist.com requires manual changes — follow this guide to update your email (you must set a password for your todoist account before the changeover, then after the changeover you can proceed to change your email address, read the guide very carefully) : See How
weVideo requires you to contact weVideo support to change your email if you have used Google SSO to sign in. support@wevideo.com <support@wevideo.com>
After Wednesday 20th August
Login to Google using Single Sign-On (SSO)
After the changeover, when you try to access Google services (Drive, Docs, Classroom, Meet, etc.):
You’ll be automatically redirected to the Microsoft sign-in page.
Sign in with your Microsoft 365 username and password (e.g., roe2534@dilworth.school.nz).
Once signed in, you’ll be taken straight back into the Google service you were trying to access.
Important: You will need to log out of all Google accounts on all devices and browsers after the changeover and log back in using your new email address (@dilworth.school.nz) with the same password you use for Microsoft 365.
About usernames and aliases: From this point forward, your Google account works the same as Microsoft:
Your username will be your staff ID format (e.g., roe2534@dilworth.school.nz).
Your email alias or alternate email will be in the format j.roe@dilworth.school.nz.
For Trust Office staff, your alias or alternate email will be in the format j.roe@dilworth.org.nz.
Both can be used to send and receive emails to and from or for Google file and folder sharing. For instants if a person asks for you Google or Microsoft email address, you can tell them either the roe2534@dilworth.school.nz or j.roe@dilworth.school.nz or j.roe@dilworth.org.nz (for Trust Office Staff Only)
All Emails will now only flow through Microsoft365
All staff email will be delivered to and sent from Outlook, including any email and notification that normally goes to your Google mail, now via the new Google email address. Please remember, emails that are send to your old @gapps.dilworth.school.nz will return a fail status from 3pm Wednesday 20th.
Gmail will remain temporarily accessible until 3pm on Wednesday 20th August for any final manual email changes or migrations you need to complete. We strongly recommend acting on this before it is permanently disabled.
Continue using Google tools
Google Drive, Docs, Sheets, Meet, and Classroom remain available – now signed in through Microsoft.
Use the Google Meet Add-in in Outlook to create and attach a Meet link to a calendar invite from your Microsoft account. See How
Calendar best practice
Microsoft Calendar is now your main calendar.
Google Calendar can still be used via a web browser, but for consistency, Microsoft Calendar is the sole and only official calendar for staff moving forward and meeting invites should be sent from Outlook.
Log out of Google on all devices
If you were signed in to Google before the change, log out of all Google accounts on all devices and browsers.
This includes Google Drive for Desktop and any browsers where you are signed in.
Remove your old Google account from Microsoft Outlook Desktop application (if added)
If your @gapps.dilworth.school.nz Google account is set up in Microsoft Outlook client application, please remove it as it will no longer function. See How: MacOS , Windows, Mobile Device Apple iOS
SchoolBridge access
We will be changing over your SchoolBridge Google username.
If you cannot access SchoolBridge by clicking the Google button at login, please instead try the Microsoft login option. The eta for finishing this SchoolBridge changes will be Wednesday 20th 12mid -day
We appreciate everyone working together on this. We understand that these changes may feel challenging, but they are being made with the long-term goal of making our systems simpler, safer, and better for all staff and students.
